Cheap as you are

Still here! Neglected to follow up on my last post to say what a great time we had, both in the city and up in the South Australian countryside which, much as I hated growing up there, really is a stunning part of the world. People don't even realise.

The big "introduce your boyfriend to your parents" thing occurred without incident and I'm pretty sure there were ticks of approval.

Since then I've just been ensconced in work, of the full-time variety and also freelance work that I really could have used when I was living in Osaka rather than now, here in Adelaide. I've reconfirmed for the millionth time that I am unhappy when busy, and when I feel that social interactions must be sacrificed in favour of working, and let me tell you there's no doubt in my mind as to which of the two is more pointless.

My full-time job goes on in a weird sort of homeostasis. I finally took charge of a project and got it completed, so I can actually say something was achieved in my time there. Had I not done that I would most likely have finished the contract with nothing to show, as actually concluding anything seems to be among the lowest priorities there.

I've seen it all before so I'm not surprised, but one day I just wish that I could step into some sort of work-related environment that isn't fraught with human hideousness. Basically anything I've ever tried to accomplish in tandem with other people has ended up in disappointment and/or disillusionment, and sure I've played my part, but I still blame others more because fuck it I SEE THINGS THROUGH.

I'm still loving Adelaide. What a misunderstood city. It's fabulous. But if its poor national reputation keeps even one or two fuckheads away then I don't mind one bit.

I'm sick this weekend and pleased that my client hasn't got back to me as it means I can have at least part of the weekend to myself. So, on with it... xx
